What is mold? A mold can best be defined as a fungus or microbes which derives its nutrition from dead or decaying matter. It cannot survive in dry conditions and need moisture to survive. It is neither an animal nor a plant and sunlight will kill it.

Molds are extremely harmful to us and in case you have a mold related problem, it should be immediately notified to an agency that specializes in this. Such agencies can eradicate the problem before it becomes a cause for concern. If you can smell a damp musty smell in your house, and find you or members of your family to be having a lot of allergies lately, you probably have mold at home, even though it might not be visible to your eye. Mold allergies commonly result in sneezing, red eyes, runny noses.

Never neglect mold as it might prove to be fatal too and can cause neurological disorders. A few indications of mold are:

a)      Molds release spores that are sometimes inhaled by us. As soon as our body encounters mold spores, our immune system recognizes them to be alien particles and attack them in order to protect our body. These attacks become visible to us in the form of allergies. Some of the symptoms of mold related allergies are sneezing and coughing, sore throat, itchy ears, respiratory problems and difficulties, fever, breathlessness, onset of asthma, throat irritation, red and watery eyes and so on.

b)      Certain molds are toxic and release mycotoxin. Mycotoxin is a very toxic substance which causes severe damage to our body. There are at least 16 types of identified poisonous molds. Stachybotryschartarum or black mold is probably the most dangerous and poisonous toxic mold. Exposure to it may not just cause neurological problems but can also have fatal results.

c)      You or your family may be the victim of infections that result from contact with such mold spores.
